DEVELOPMENT, FROM SCRATCH, OF AN ACCESS POINT NETWORK OF 7000+ POINTS IN POLAND

 

BUSINESS CONTEXT

 

As part of the preparation and implementation of a public contract for the handling of correspondence sent by judicial institutions in Poland, the company had to build a network of 7,000+ access points enabling recipients to pick up letters.

 

MAIN CHALLENGES

 

The commissioning of points in accordance with the minimum requirements of the terms of the contract (at least 1 point per 6,000 inhabitants, 1 point per 85 km2, min. 1 point per municipality), and while optimising operations and costs.

Equipping points/partners with equipment and a solution enabling the submission of a biometric signature under the EPO (electronic confirmation of receipt) system.

The operational organisation of the business, allowing for the processing of a 10-fold increase in the number of registered mail items (an additional 4 million pieces per month), including: additional resources, performance setting and quality goals, adapting the IT system, process optimisation.

 

Last Mile Expert's ROLE

 

Our Expert, while working for the company, was responsible for the development of a business model, building a fully functional network of access points serving clients and state institutions. Adaptation and selection of a functional, efficient IT system in the access points, enabling efficient service, communication with senders and recipients. Development of procedures and routines ensuring the security of shipments and correctness of financial settlements with subcontractors and all within a short timeframe and under tight budgetary constraints.

 

CUSTOMER BENEFITS

 

The launch of this network enabled the company to execute the largest tender on the Polish market worth over PLN 500m. After the end of the contract, the network was adapted to the requirements and standards enabling the handling of e-commerce packages and achieved an operational capacity of 250,000 packages a day.
